The Ex Men (A Wood Elf Blood Bowl Team)

Team History: The Ex Men was a human team originally cobbled together by coach Andy Goodwin after the Storm of Chaos. They were a bunch of n'er-do-wells, consisting of ex-husbands, ex-convicts and even an actual 'ex-man'(yes, a man who is... no longer a man)! Unfortunately, the team's performance was so dismal that coach Goodwin sacked the whole lot of them and The Ex Men were in danger of passing into obscurity. However, coach Goodwin was not one to accept failure of this sort and went on to recruit the flighty wood elves into The Ex Men. There was a great upheaval in the way things were done and there were truly no longer any sacred cows (they ate the last one after the humans lost their last game). Even the team name was on the chopping block! After some thinking, however, coach A. Goodwin decided there was no need to re-name the team, since it was still true that his team was one that was indeed, The Ex Men Team.

Team History: Ostland Crusaders

The Crusaders are made up from a group of mercenaries who fought in the great Crusade Wars in Araby. After the Empire's failed campaign and the Empire withdrawing their troops from the warzone, many warriors returned home with little money and with little to do.

A bunch of veterans, upon return to Ostland decided to form a blood bowl team and traded their plate mail for spikey shoulder pads! Thus the Crusaders were born!

With a comaradarie that is forged in the heat of battle, the Crusaders continue to exemplify that spirit on the Astroturf! The team is led by the grizzled ex-platoon sergeant, Ares Stormlion, and he continues to inspire his team to greater heights...

The Crusaders didn't come back emptyhanded from their wars in Araby... they managed to bring back 2 sarcophagi when the Imperial Army raided one of the many tombs that littered the Araby countryside. Selling the 2 sarcophagi to a shady magician, the Crusaders raised enough funds for Blood Bowl gear and the hefty registration fee!

Crusaders Off To Flying Start

Windglade Arena, Athel Loren.
The Ostland Crusaders posted a comfortable 2-0 win in the season opener against the Wood Elven team The Ex Men.

With a first half touchdown from the Crusader catcher, George Cleanhand, the Crusaders looked to be in control as the Ex Men seemed to have difficulty coming to grips with their famed throwing game. It was a big fumble by the Ex Men Thrower that led to the first touchdown. And as the number of KOed elves started to pile up (5 at one time). The Ex Men were indeed lucky to go into the half down by 1 touchdown.

With the second half beginning and most of the KOed elves remaining happily in their dugouts, the work was cut out for the Crusaders, as the Humans pushed forward to score again. During the play, Crusader captain Ares Stormlion blocked Ex Men lineman Eirtil Sharpsight so hard he broke his neck! After a strong drive by the humans, Ron Broadsword the blitzer, ended up with the ball as he ran into the endzone, for the second score.

The last few turns of the second half saw the Crusaders counter attack after another fumbling show by the Wood Elves. Failure to dodge to safety, the Elven team lost the ball and the Crusaders drove hard to score. But in true Wood Elven form, they marshalled an excellent last ditch defense to prevent the score, and very nearly scored a touchdown themselves... but it was not to be...

The Crusaders chalked up enough to buy an Apothecary, and the next match will be between the Chaos Dwarf team, Hashut's All Blacks and the Undead Team, the Bleached Bones!

Homecoming of the Warmaster

And the warrior stepped into the audience hall...

...To the boisterous cheers and shouts from the hundreds that filled up the place, all eager to get a glimpse of the renowned hero. Courtiers, nobles, soldiers and womenfolk alike all raised their voices to welcome the grizzled veteran...

...for word of his feats and accomplishments have reached every ear, from highborn to lowly peasant. That he has brought fame and expanded their kingdom; that he has vanquished all foes that stood in his way; that through each swing of his sword have kept the kingdom safe.

"Warmaster, WARMASTER!" They shout in unison.

With a motion of his hand, the King beckoned his greatest warrior up toward the throne. The warrior, still clad in his battered plate armour, stepped forward toward the dais. At the summit, the warrior knelt in fealty to his liege.

"Your reputation precedes you, warrior..." said the old King. "What you've accomplished through your actions, my best generals can only dream about."

Casting a skeptical eye at the warrior; for his face hidden as he knelt low, face touching the floor, and the old King continued, "From lowly soldier, to the best commander in the land... hmmm... raise your head up, warrior, so that i can see you face and know your name..."

Powerfists

Guys,

The problem with power fists are they are all too powerful and yet easily available.

A lascannon is powerful but has only 1 shot. a heavy holder does not deal out as much damage per shot but has 3 shouts. Imagine a lascannon having 3 shots...thats what a powerfist is like.

An item should have either high damage, or high number of attacks, not both. Especially one that is so readily available. For high number of attacks, one should use a power sword( which is now seldom used), for high damage against vehicles and monsters, a powerfist should be chosen.

Beacuse of the absolute "powerfulness" and relative ease of equiping an army with numerous powerfists, any tactical finess or plan gets literally "fisted" away by the absolute brute strength of the powerfist.

What i propose
1) limit all powerfist attacks to the profile of the character only. no bonuses for anything else whatsoever. This will cause a choice between anti personnel( choose a powersword) , or anti- monster( powerfist). Powerfist should have limited attacks, but each attack is devestating. ( e.g , heavy bolter vs lascannon). It means an army list will have to be thought through more carefully rather than just equiping a powerfist on anything than can have one.

2) this limitation does not affect walkers or vehicles

What this means;
like choosing to equip with heavy bolters or lascannons, more tactical application of force on the battle field. Don't need powerfists when you need to kill large number of troops. Try to get your powerfist to high value targets. use powerswords for a more effective anti-infantry role.

Terminators may be disadvantaged here, but i am sure they can cope with it.

I feel that it adds for more tactical thinking to the game and yet does not lose any of the fluff.
