Crusaders Off To Flying Start

Windglade Arena, Athel Loren.
The Ostland Crusaders posted a comfortable 2-0 win in the season opener against the Wood Elven team The Ex Men.

With a first half touchdown from the Crusader catcher, George Cleanhand, the Crusaders looked to be in control as the Ex Men seemed to have difficulty coming to grips with their famed throwing game. It was a big fumble by the Ex Men Thrower that led to the first touchdown. And as the number of KOed elves started to pile up (5 at one time). The Ex Men were indeed lucky to go into the half down by 1 touchdown.

With the second half beginning and most of the KOed elves remaining happily in their dugouts, the work was cut out for the Crusaders, as the Humans pushed forward to score again. During the play, Crusader captain Ares Stormlion blocked Ex Men lineman Eirtil Sharpsight so hard he broke his neck! After a strong drive by the humans, Ron Broadsword the blitzer, ended up with the ball as he ran into the endzone, for the second score.

The last few turns of the second half saw the Crusaders counter attack after another fumbling show by the Wood Elves. Failure to dodge to safety, the Elven team lost the ball and the Crusaders drove hard to score. But in true Wood Elven form, they marshalled an excellent last ditch defense to prevent the score, and very nearly scored a touchdown themselves... but it was not to be...

The Crusaders chalked up enough to buy an Apothecary, and the next match will be between the Chaos Dwarf team, Hashut's All Blacks and the Undead Team, the Bleached Bones!
